Insulation

Fitting or topping up your insulation is affordable and effective. Comfort has never been cheaper. Our insulation meets New Zealand government standards for energy efficiency and for government funding. You can be sure that you get the best solution for your budget.

If your home was built before 2000, you could be eligible for government funding to retrofit insulation to your home, irrespective of your income. We assess your home for eligibility for government funding for your specific needs. We also take care of the government paperwork for you so that it is hassle free.

Nearly 1 million New Zealand homes were built before insulation became mandatory in 1977 (BRANZ Study Report No. 142). An estimated 300,000 of our homes still have little or no insulation, meaning they are cold, draughty and waste energy. New Zealand has one of the highest rates of asthma in the world (The Asthma and Respiratory Foundation of New Zealand), and avoidable seasonal mortality. Cold, damp houses have been associated with both of these. Around 100,000 of New Zealand’s poorly insulated homes are occupied by people on low incomes (EECA). Christchurch is in Zone 3 as specified in the New Zealand Building Code Clause H1 Energy Efficiency, which has the highest requirement for insulation.

The New Zealand Government has launched the ENERGYWISE™ Warm Up New Zealand: Heat Smart programme to provide funding for all New Zealanders to improve the insulation in their existing homes. If your home was built before 2000, you could be eligible.
